Read on to learn how this innovative company is transforming remediation practices across Europe — and how they’re contributing to AquaConSoil’s mission of advancing soil and water sustainability.
Pioneering In Situ Remediation for a Sustainable Future
Intrapore GmbH, based in Essen, Germany, is a technology leader in sustainable soil and groundwater remediation. Since 2015, we’ve been dedicated to developing innovative in situ solutions that tackle environmental contamination at its core — deep within the subsurface, with minimal ecological disruption.
Our mission strongly aligns with AquaConSoil’s focus on advancing sustainable use and management of soil, sediment, and water systems. We address the urgent need for effective remediation of pollutants like PFAS, heavy metals, and chlorinated hydrocarbons — contributing to safer environments and healthier ecosystems across Europe.
With our science-driven, low-impact technologies and partnerships with environmental agencies, consultancies, and research institutions, Intrapore is proud to support AquaConSoil’s platform for knowledge exchange and innovation.
Company background
Founded by a team of geoscientists and environmental engineers, Intrapore was born out of the idea that remediation can be both powerful and gentle — effective in action, but sustainable in approach. Headquartered in Essen, we’ve quickly grown into a European leader in particle-based in situ remediation, with numerous successful applications across industrial, urban, and natural environments.
Our portfolio includes groundbreaking in-situ products: Intrasorp®, Aquaferrox®, CarboIron®, TrapOx® and Intraplex® — each designed to immobilize, degrade, or remove persistent environmental pollutants. We were the first company globally to specialize exclusively in the development and commercialization of microparticle remediation products.
Intrapore has received wide recognition for its contributions to the environmental and in-situ remediation sector. Our work reflects a deep commitment to sustainability: minimizing energy use, avoiding soil excavation, and ensuring long-term contaminant stability in the subsurface.
We believe in combining rigorous research with scalable implementation — making us a trusted partner for public institutions, private clients, and environmental consultancies alike, across all of Europe.
Innovative solutions & contributions
At Intrapore, innovation begins at the particle level. Our in-situ remediation products use engineered microparticles to treat contaminants exactly where they are, deep within the ground, without the need for excavation, pumping, or long-term above-ground treatment infrastructure.
Key products include:
- Intrasorp®: Liquid activated carbon suspensions that create adsorption barriers for organic pollutants within the groundwater.
- Aquaferrox®: Highly adsorptive and patented iron oxide particles for the permanent binding of heavy metals, and their retardation from groundwater.
- CarboIron®: An award-winning composite material combining activated carbon and zero-valent iron for a full reductive degradation of chlorinated solvents.
- TrapOx®: An adsorptive zeolithe-suspension, which traps organic contaminants via adsorption and then oxidizes them inside of the zeolithe matrix, via a reactive core.
- Intraplex® and Fluorolock®: PFAS-specific adsorbers that are immobilizing “forever chemicals” in soils and groundwater. Intraplex® has proven to have one of the largest adsorption capacity for PFAS of any comparable products on the market.
Each technology is the result of extensive R&D and has been validated in real-world projects, from industrial brownfields to drinking water protection zones.
What sets our work apart is a science-driven approach, which we ground in cooperations with leading environmental research institutions. Our products stand their tests.
Our contributions directly support AquaConSoil’s vision of soil and water system resilience. By eliminating legacy contamination while avoiding carbon-intensive processes, we enable regions to restore ecological function and reuse land safely and sustainably.
Commitment to AquaConSoil 2025
As a Golden Sponsor of AquaConSoil 2025, Intrapore is proud to contribute to this vital platform for environmental dialogue and innovation. Visitors to our booth can expect insightful discussions with our experts, and exclusive updates on our latest field applications — including new advancements in PFAS treatment.
We will also be presenting case studies during the conference that showcase our integrated approach to site assessment, particle design, and in situ implementation. Our focus this year will be on long-term PFAS immobilization strategies and the use of composite particle systems for complex contaminant mixtures.
AquaConSoil is a cornerstone event for us — bringing together scientists, policymakers, and industry leaders from all over the world with a shared passion for soil and water sustainability. We value this opportunity to connect, collaborate, and push boundaries in environmental remediation.
Our participation reflects not only our technical leadership but our ongoing commitment to building cleaner, healthier environments across Europe.
